Agra's Taj Mahal is one of the most famous buildings in the world, the mausoleum of Shah Jahan's favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It is one of the New Seven Wonders of the world, and one of three World Heritage Sites in Agra.Agra Fort (sometimes called the Red Fort), was commissioned by the great Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1565, and is another of Agra's World Heritage Sites. A stone tablet at the gate of the Fort states that it had been built before 1000 but was later renovated by Akbar. The red sandstone fort was converted into a palace during Shah Jahan's time, and reworked extensively with marble and pietra dura inlay. |

Today you will be driven to Agra - the Erstwhile Mughal Capital ! Agra is globally renowned as the city of the Taj Mahal. But this Royal Mughal city has, in addition to the legendary Taj, many monuments that epitomize the high point of Mughal architecture. Enroute visit Sikandra - the tomb of Emperor Akbar. On arrival, check into your hotel.

This morning visit to the enchanting Taj Mahal (closed on Friday), where bicycle rickshaws will transfer you to the gates of this mesmerising monument. Built by emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century as a mausoleum for his wife Mumtaz Mahal, Taj Mahal is a masterpiece in marble and one of the world's most famous landmarks. In the afternoon visit Agra Fort. Few forts in the world have a more fascinating story than the Great Fort of Agra, an outstanding example of Mughal architecture and the seat and stronghold of the Mughal Empire under successive generations. Originally planned as an impregnable military structure by Akbar, Agra Fort over a period of time, acquired all the elegance, lavishness and majesty of an imperial palace. Also visit the Dayal Bagh Temple which is located at Dayal Bagh, a sacred place in Agra. It houses the Samadhi of Swamiji Maharaj, the founder of Radha Swami Faith. Dayal Bagh Temple has been under construction for the last 100 years. Some people consider this building as an alternative to the great Taj Mahal.
The rest of the evening is free to relax or explore the local markets.
